Here's How to Get Tattooed at Lucid Arts Tattoo Studio:

PREPARATION - WHAT & WHERE:

The first thing for you to consider is what you would like to get tattooed and to gather references. References can be anything from a rough sketch that you drew yourself, to a picture of a rose that you want.

SIZE, COMPLEXITY & BUDGET:

There's an old saying in the tattoo field: "Cheap Tattoos Aren't Good, and Good Tattoos Aren't Cheap".

Although it's an old saying, it still holds true.

If you have a tight budget, we will work with you to give you the best tattoo possible for your money. Please let us know if you only have a certain amount of money to spend, as large-scale tattoos can get quite pricey.
That being said, we ONLY charge you while the tattoo machine is running. You are not being charged if we take a break. The only thing you're paying for is when you're actually being tattooed. It makes it fair for both parties involved.

Please refer to our F.A.Q. section for hourly rates, and any other questions you may have in regard to your tattoo.

CONTACT:

The next step would be to Contact an Artist.

You'll need to send all of your prepared material including any reference photos you've collected online, rough sketches, or font styles that you like.

From there, we will review your ideas and call you to set up a consultation.

CONSULTATION:

Consultations are free of charge. They give us an opportunity to review what you've sent us and a chance for you to talk with an artist who will work with you to give you a design that fits your body and will also hold up and look good for years to come!

Consults can take anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the design. We oftentimes draw directly on you with Sharpie markers and use that as a "rough start" to further define and articulate the final drawing. Once the rough design is at a point that both you and the artist are happy with, next comes scheduling.
Please note that there may be up to an hour's wait time to talk with an artist when you arrive at the studio for your consultation.

SCHEDULE:

You will be required to leave us a deposit to get on the schedule to get tattooed. The deposit will range anywhere from $50 to $150, depending on the size and complexity of the design.

Deposits are redeemable when the tattoo is completely finished, so it's money well-spent. It usually covers the last hour for larger tattoos and most of the price of small ones.

AFTER A DEPOSIT IS TAKEN, YOU WILL BE GIVEN A DATE AND TIME TO GET TATTOOED!

Please Note: WE DO NOT SHOW ANYONE THEIR ARTWORK UNTIL THE DAY OF THE TATTOO

This is because most of the time we do our design work very close to the time of the scheduled appointment. We've found that it keeps us focused on the tattoo at-hand without being distracted by 10 other projects, and it helps us "keep it fresh" in our minds when we are about to tattoo, which leads to a better outcome.

We also work digitally, so minor changes can be made in a timely fashion should there be any alterations to the design. If for any reason the design needs to be completely redrawn, we will use some of the time of the original appointment to nail-down the design with you while you're there and reschedule your appointment at no charge.
